I have sometimes been asked if EFT is a New Age therapy since it involves working with energy in the body.  Is it appropriate for Christians to use it?  When I first heard about EFT, I was extremely cautious. I read everything I could find on the subject, prayed about it, contacted people that I knew to be very strong Christians, and talked with several counselors and ministers. 

After many positive assurances, I came to know, without a doubt, that God had brought EFT into my life as a blessing.  After practicing EFT for eight and a half years, I now realize just what a wonderful blessing it is!


EFT does not replace prayer, faith in God and Jesus Christ, or the Holy Spirit. It is a method to clear the physical body of negative emotions.  By doing this, one can become more open to receiving promptings from the Holy Spirit and grow in Christ.  It is much easier to pray and feel totally connected to God when our heart and mind are not filled with turmoil.


My relationship with God and Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit is absolutely the most important thing in my life.  I would not use any practice or modality that violates my faith.  There is nothing about EFT that denies the Deity of Jesus Christ nor is in contradiction to His Word in any way. I do believe that EFT is a magnificent gift from the Lord.

No matter where a person is spiritually, I will work with them, respect their beliefs, and assist them in their journey to peace, health, and happiness.  My job is to help them to become balanced mentally, emotionally, and physically. Once this is accomplished, my clients often feel the need to work on their spirituality. 

I do believe in the power of prayer and pray before sessions with my clients. I give all the glory to God for this work.

What EFT Is

EFT is a method of energy therapy that has been in use in its present form since 1992. Since that time, it has provided relief to tens of thousands of people from pain, disease, and emotional issues.  Many have experienced immediate results from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, physical pain, depression, anxiety, fears, anger, sadness, and guilt, as well as negative beliefs and behaviors.

EFT was quickly accepted by clinical and energy psychologist because of its astonishing results.
 It has been so effective that thousands of physicians and other medical professionals now use it routinely in their practice. Unresolved emotional issues are the main cause of 85% of all illnesses. With the use of EFT, the results can be rapid and often may replace more dangerous, invasive, and costly procedures and medications.

How
EFT Works

As you think or "tune in" to the issues that are causing the energy to be stuck or blocked (whatever is bothering you), you tap on specific acupressure points or energy meridians with your fingertips. The tapping releases the blockage (emotional block) so that the energy can flow normally. This causes the emotions to come into balance quickly.
 
Once the energy is balanced, a person cannot become upset about the once disturbing events no matter how hard they may try. The memory is still there but all negative and often painful emotions once connected to it are gone. This brings about immediate positive changes in thinking and feeling

When the block is completely removed it will not come back. If another aspect of the problem arises, it can be tapped away quickly. Therefore, EFT has become known throughout the world as a procedure that works gently, quickly, painlessly, and permanently.
 
Most imbalances may be completely relieved within a very short time using EFT. More
complex, deep-seated issues may require repetition of this process. As the emotional blocks are removed, often impressive physical healings take place as well. Aches and pains may improve or vanish completely. Your vision and thinking may become clearer and everyday stresses may not affect you as much. You often have an immediate sense of well-being and feel lighter.
 
EFT is very gentle and usually painless. In some cases the emotional issues and memories are so intense or frightening that is does cause some discomfort. In this instance, we tap as the painful memory is focused upon to lessen the negative effects.

EFT Tapping Points

You will tap with your fingertips on the points illustrated while tuning into a specific
problem, fear, belief, pain, etc. that you want to change or eliminate. I use the
index, middle,
ring, and little fingers of both hands to tap. You can tap on either
side of the body, both sides, or switch sides during tapping, it doesn’t matter.

On the karate chop, use all four fingers of one hand to tap on the outside edge on the other hand between the wrist and the little finger.

  1. On a scale of 0-10 (0 being no intensity to 10 being extreme intensity) note what your starting intensity is as you concentrate on the issue.
  2. While tapping on the karate chop point, say the following three times, stating your specific problem, physical or emotional pain, fear, belief, etc:

    Even though (insert your issue), I deeply and completely accept myself.
    Example; "I feel so depressed,” “I feel this sadness over losing my friend,” “I have this anger at my neighbor,” "I have this fear of speaking in front of people," etc.
  3. Tap on each of the points below approximately 5-7 times each as you repeat the above phrase.
  • Top of head - just off center of head
  • Eyebrow - just above the nose where the eyebrow starts
  • Side of eye - outside edge of eye on the bone
  • Under eye - on the cheekbone
  • Under nose - below the nose and above the lip
  • Chin - below the lower lip in the crease above the chin
  • Collarbone - the junction where the collarbone, sternum and rib first meet
  • Under breast - at the base of the breast several inches below the nipple
  • Under arm - about 4 inches below the armpit
  • Back to top of head - this completes the round
  1. Now take a deep breath and relax.
  2. Think of the problem again and see where the intensity is (0-10). If it is above a 2, repeat the steps. This time say, “Even though I still have this remaining (state problem), I deeply and completely accept myself”.
  3. Repeat saying phrase in step 5 until you can feel no emotion when you try to concentrate on the issue that was causing you physical or emotional discomfort when you began. You will still remember it but it was not cause pain or anxiety.

Many times you will get results in minutes with issues that you have been dealing with for years. I will work with you personally and teach you how to do EFT on your own.  Often when the emotional discomfort is removed, physical pain is relieved, also.

Origin
of EFT

EFT was developed in the United States by Gary Craig, a Stanford graduate and well-known pioneer andYour host, The Editors leader in the field of alternative health. He was one of the early students of clinical psychologist, Dr. Roger Callahan, the founder of Thought Field Therapy. Gary refined Dr. Callahan’s techniques and transformed them into the extremely simple and effective technique of EFT.

Studies by Dr. Callahan and Gary Craig confirmed that emotional pain is caused by a disturbance in the body's energy system. When the energy system is cleared, or balanced, the emotional pain and often physical pain disappears, usually permanently.

In the past twenty years, EFT has spread rapidly throughout the world and is now considered to be one of the most effective and remarkable discoveries of Energy Psychology. Medical professionals and alternative health practitioners are using EFT with incredible results. Many times they are seeing success where everything else has failed.

EFT has helped thousands of people to lead healthier, happier, more productive lives.
